National Shooting Complexes

The National Shooting Complex is one of the premier shooting facilities in the world, spanning 671 acres of San Antonio countryside. As the headquarters for the National Skeet Shooting Association and National Sporting Clays Association, it hosts elite tournaments for both sports, including the World Skeet Championships and National Sporting Clays Championship. In addition, it is the venue for a wide range of shooting and non-shooting events for thousands of serious competitors, casual shooters, and outdoors enthusiasts each year.

The Cardinal Shooting Center hosts Trap, Skeet and Sporting Clays championships, as well as being home to several shoots to benefit charities.

Trapshooting

The Cardinal Trap Shooting Facility is the largest in the state. It consists of a 52-house, state-of-the-art trap line with Canterbury Voice Calls, a large vending area with complete vendor buildings, and plenty of parking throughout the entire trap line.

Sporting Clays

The Cardinal Sporting Clays Facility offers a state-of-the-art target shooting experience. Designed to mimic wild bird hunting, sporting clay shooting is referred to as “golf with a shotgun” which involves the shooter going through a course set up with multiple shooting stations, each station different than the next.

We have 5-Stand and two complete sporting clays courses to choose from, one more geared towards the everyday shooter and the second course set up with more challenging, tournament shots.

Skeet

Our facility offers 14 sheet fields. Skeet shooting involves eight shooting stations and two trap houses. Seven of the stations are arranged in a half moon between the two trap houses, and one station is directly between them. The high house, on the left side of the field, throws its targets from a trap 10 feet above the ground. The target rises to a height of 15 feet by the time it travels to the center of the field. The low house target, on the right side, leaves the trap house just 3-1/2 feet from the ground. It also rises to a height of 15 feet by the time it reaches the center of the field. There is a point where both targets can be broken with a single shotgun shell. This discipline provides good practice for sporting clays targets.

SPORTING CLAYS COURSES & RATES

Seven Springs Sporting Clays complex features three courses: two standard courses and one super sporting course, with multiple stations. There is also a practice area with two five-stands, one of which is heated. The facility will also play host to a variety of tournaments, private lessons and corporate and non-profit events.

FIVE-STAND

The five stand at Seven Springs Sporting Clays is three-quarters enclosed, heated, covered and handicapped accessible. Not only can you shoot in poor weather this winter, but you can shoot and practice in the evening because the five stand is also illuminated.

A regulation five stand has five shooting positions, but ours has seven. In addition to the regular use of the five stand, our instructors can simultaneously offer lessons to shooters throughout the winter months while staying comfortable and warm. We also relocated more trap machines to the five stand to offer more target presentations than a typical regulation five stand.

Sporting Clays

Rated one of the best facilities in the country, N.S.C.A. Level III Instructor, Mike Mohr meticulously designed three challenging paved courses which includes a super sporting course that takes advantage of the natural beauty of the surrounding Laurel Highlands. Great for novice and competitive shooters of all ages.
